UN HABITAT is cooperating with Jordan Housing and Urban Development Cooperation (HUDC) in assessing the performance of the Housing Sector in Jordan and restructuring HUDC.
Dr. Daniel Biau, Senior UN HABABITAT Advisor has undertook a mission for 10 days to work with HUDC on designing a road map and formulating a plan of action for HUDC restructuring approach. HUDC organized Housing Sector Assessment workshop by in Amman Jordan on 20th November 2011.
Dr. Alioune Badiane, Acting Director of Regional and Technical Cooperation Division of UN HABITAT in his statement during the workshop highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms by which HUDC can tap on non-government resources for enhancing affordable access to housing and proposed different options for encouraging rental housing. H.E. the Minister of Public Works and Housing in his speech called upon HUDC and UN HABITAT to develop a joint capacity building Programme that may be self-financing and enhance the capacity of HUDC to disseminate its knowledge cross boundaries.
